Hi, I'm Shannon.
I help others reclaim their space and power by building communities rooted in connection, self-acceptance, and radical care—because our liberation is intertwined.
I am currently living and working in Toronto on Anishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ, Haudenosaunee, Mississauga, and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation land.
My Story
Hey, I’m Shannon.
For years, I bought into the lies society fed me about shrinking—my body, my personality, even my dreams. I twisted myself into spaces that weren’t made for me, thinking it was the only way to be accepted, happy, or just okay. Spoiler: it didn’t work. I ended up feeling lost, small, and homesick for myself, exhausted from constantly being told I was either too much or not enough.
Then, something shifted. I began reclaiming my space, starting with accepting my body just as it was. Movement, self-study, and self-advocacy helped me rebuild my relationship with myself. Slowly but surely, I began showing up—not just physically, but with my voice, my ideas, and my dreams. And let me tell you, it feels good to take up space fully in your own skin.
My sociology background gave me a deeper understanding of how societal norms shape how we see ourselves and each other. I realized self-acceptance is just the beginning; the real work is moving toward body liberation—for ourselves and for each other. Once we see the systems holding us back, we can start breaking free.
As I started sharing this journey, I found I wasn’t alone. So many of us have been pushed to the margins, told to be smaller, quieter. That’s why I created Fringe(ish)—a space for all of us who’ve been told we’re too much or not enough. A place to take up space and build a community that accepts us exactly as we are.
Now, I help others reclaim their space and power, creating communities rooted in connection, self-acceptance, body liberation, and radical care—because our liberation is intertwined. Together, we’re dismantling the harmful narratives we’ve been given and making space for all of us to show up fully as we are.
